Distilled Water Fast Can be done for 24 hours all the way up to days and weeks. For your first fast, it is best to start with a 24 hour fast. The following fasting recipe is taken from The Miracle of Fasting book by Paul and Patricia Bragg. By fasting you are helping your body release the toxic waste that is causing you to age prematurely.
Your kidneys are in dire need of flushing. The delicate filters located in each kidney are congested and can cause a backup throughout your entire body. In time the kidneys will fail to filter your blood, thus resulting in dialysis. It is our diet, lifestyle and medications that are causing us to age prematurely. Fasting isn’t only for the kidneys, done long enough; it will help every cell in your body eliminate waste, mucus and toxins. Fasting helps your body cleanse, repair and heal itself naturally from head to toe. You will begin to look and feel your best. Colds and flu can become a thing of the past with enough cleansing and proper diet. Getting clean keeps you lean! To help you see exactly what is being flushed out of your kidneys, save your urine the way Patricia and Paul Bragg recommend: Each morning take a sample of the first urine your body passes. Put these urine bottles (labeled) on a shelf to settle for 3 weeks, and then look at them in the sunlight. You will see the concentrated salt and toxic wastes you’ve eliminated at the bottom of the bottle. Save at least one sample during your fast. When the salt and toxins are passed from your body, you will notice how freely your kidneys will function. You will experience a natural moisture in your mouth and your skin and muscle tone will improve.
FASTING DIRECTIONS Can be taken for 24 hours and longer. Each day drink 8 – 10 glasses (8 ounces each) of distilled water, you can also include the following recipe: Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar Cocktail Add 1 equal teaspoon of raw honey* and one teaspoon Bragg’s Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar (or fresh lemon juice) to at least 3 of your 8 – 10 glasses of distilled water. This not only helps give the water a flavor, it acts as a mucus and toxin dissolver. *Black strap molasses or pure maple syrup can be used in place of honey (if Diabetic, use 2-4 drops stevia to sweeten). Start and end your fast with 1-2 days of fresh juices, raw fruits, and vegetable salads. The Braggs recommend a raw coleslaw cabbage salad as the first food to reach your taste buds after a fast. Chop cabbage, and mix with grated carrots and beets. Add fresh lemon or orange juice if dressing is desired. This salad acts as an intestinal broom to help sweep out the old waste and keep your bowels moving. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water before and after any fast, AND the rest of your life for that matter! When not fasting, this can be consumed upon rising each morning and a half hour before lunch and dinner. This not only acts as a pick-me-up beverage, it helps to normalize weight and balance the pH in your gut. Fasting works miracles for both the underweight and overweight. Both overweight and underweight individuals can be afflicted with malnourishment. Getting your body clean will allow it to absorb nutrients. Cleaning your body will also help it burn fat instead of store fat. Will you be having bowel movements? According to Dr. Schulze, my former employer and owner of the American Botanical Pharmacy, he states you should be having bowel movements while cleansing. His theory is… you want the main elimination channel (your bowel) open and moving to release the old waste that your body is releasing. Now, the Braggs have an entirely different theory, this is theirs word for word: “You shouldn’t worry about bowel movements during a fast! Elimination adjusts itself shortly after each fast, so forget about bowel movements and think about the wonderful cleansing your body is experiencing. Mother Nature’s plumbing system works perfectly if you allow it to (but a few colonics and enemas are optional if desired and needed). When the fast is over and you eat meals that are well balanced in bulk, moisture, lubrication and drink 8 glasses of distilled water daily, your bowels will move better than ever! Try to eat 60% to 70% raw foods in the form of organic salads, sprouts, fruits, veggies, and their fresh juices.” OPTIONAL: 1. For those of you wanting to keep your bowels moving and help pull and push out more waste, you can take natural laxatives by way of tea or herbs. I do this by using Dr. Schulze’s Formula #1 and #2 with any fast. My first 4-day fast I did without the use of laxatives. I got great results, and I did not get sick from not releasing waste*. I prefer to have my bowels moving the way Dr. Schulze recommends. The Formula’s 1 and 2 will help pull and push out more waste, thereby allowing you to have bowel movements during your fast. The choice is yours, and according to both doctors listed above, you’ll be fine with or without your bowel moving. *Please know… I have a lot of experience with detoxing, therefore my bowels aren’t as toxic as when I began so my side effects are minimal. 2.
