This recipe I got from one of Dr. Schulze’s protégés. Barley water is a traditionally acclaimed drink which helps support and nourish the kidneys in times of stress. Barley is one of the key ingredients in SUPERFOOD. Since our skin is often referred to as our third kidney, this is a great addition to any kidney cleansing program. When your kidneys are congested and functioning poorly, your skin tries to compensate by “pooping” out the excess waste by way of breakouts. To further keep your kidneys clean, be sure your bowel is moving as many times as you are eating a day. Also, whenever possible avoid antibiotics and pain pills, both are responsible for ruining the kidneys into dialysis.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of whole barley
5 cups of water
1/4 of a Cinnamon stick
Grated Ginger
Freshly squeezed lemon juice

Directions to make:

Place the whole barley, water, the cinnamon stick, some grated ginger into a pan and simmer for
20 minutes. After cooling, strain the mixture and finally add fresh lemon juice for extra flavor.
Drink between 1 and 3 cups daily

With leftover barley, you can refrigerate and use later to mix in with a smoothie or add to cereal.
